92_HB1694enr HB1694 Enrolled LRB9205478MWks 1 AN ACT concerning emergency telephone services. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended 5 by changing Section 10.1 as follows: 6 (50 ILCS 750/10.1) (from Ch. 134, par. 40.1) 7 Sec. 10.1. Confidentiality. 8 (a) 9-1-1 information consisting of names, addresses and 9 telephone numbers of telephone customers whose listings are 10 not published in directories or listed in Directory 11 Assistance Offices is confidential. Except as provided in 12 subsection (b), information shall be provided on a 13 call-by-call basis only for the purpose of responding to 14 emergency calls. For the purposes of this subsection (a), 15 "emergency" means a situation in which property or human life 16 is in jeopardy and the prompt notification of the public 17 safety agency is essential. 18 (b) 9-1-1 information, including information described 19 in subsection (a), may be used by a public safety agency for 20 the purpose of placing out-going emergency calls. 21 (c) Nothing in this Section prohibits a municipality 22 with a population of more than 500,000 from using 9-1-1 23 information, including information described in subsection 24 (a), for the purpose of responding to calls made to a 25 non-emergency telephone system that is under the supervision 26 and control of a public safety agency and that shares all or 27 some facilities with an emergency telephone system. 28 (d) Any public safety agency that uses 9-1-1 information 29 for the purposes of subsection (b) must establish methods and 30 procedures that ensure the confidentiality of information as 31 required by subsection (a).
