Amend House Bill 596 on page 1, line 3 14, after "associations," by inserting the following: 4 "audiologists, health insurance plans, hearing-impaired 5 persons, parents of hearing-impaired children,"; and 6 on page 1, line 18, by changing "a" to "a tracking and"; and 7 on page 1, by replacing line 28 with the following: 8 "(e) Develop educational and informational materials for 9 hospital personnel, health care professionals, and parents on 10 appropriate follow-up procedures for infants failing 11 hospital-based screening. 12 (f) Monitor any reports made available to the State 13 with" and 14 on page 1, line 30, by replacing "(f)" with "(g)"; and 15 on page 2, immediately below line 2, by inserting the 16 following: 17 "(h) Review administrative rules and make 18 recommendations to the Department regarding such rules. 19 Section 15. Objections to test. The provisions of this 20 Act shall not apply when the parent or guardian of the 21 newborn infant objects to hearing screening on the grounds -2- LRB9102357SMdvam01 1 that the screening conflicts with his or her religious 2 beliefs and practices. A written statement of the objection 3 shall be presented to the physician or other person whose 4 duty it is to administer and report the screening under the 5 provisions of this Act. 6 Section 20. Rules. The Department of Human Services 7 shall promulgate rules necessary to implement this Act.".
