Amend Senate Bill 1610, AS AMENDED, 3 with reference to the page and line numbers of Senate 4 Amendment No. 1, on page 1, line 23, by replacing "(reading 5 and writing)" with "(reading,andwriting, and English 6 grammar)"; and 7 on page 2, line 2, by replacing "social sciences" with 8 "social sciences (history, geography, civics, economics, and 9 government)"; and 10 by replacing subsection (a-5) of Sec. 2-3.64 with the 11 following: 12 "(a-5) All testsAny IGAP testsadministered pursuant to 13 this Section shall be academically based. For the purposes 14 of this Section "academically based tests" shall mean tests 15 consisting of questions and answers that are measurable and 16 quantifiable to measure the knowledge, skill, and ability of 17 students in the subject matters covered by tests. The scoring 18 of academically based tests shall be reliable and valid and 19 shall meet the guidelines for test development and use 20 prescribed by the American Psychological Association, the 21 National Council of Measurement and Evaluation, and the 22 American Educational Research Association. Academically based 23 tests shall not include assessments or evaluations of 24 attitudes, values, or beliefs, or testing of personality, -2- SRS90SB1610KSawam07 1 self-esteem, or self-concept. Nothing in this amendatory Act 2 is intended, nor shall it be construed, to nullify, 3 supersede, or contradict the legislative intent on academic 4 testing expressed during the passage of HB 1005/P.A. 5 90-296.".
