FOWLER.

   40 ILCS 5/7-139 from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 7-139

Amends the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Article of the
Illinois Pension Code. Provides that for certain consolidated health
departments that become participating instrumentalities on or after
January 1, 2002 and on or before February 1, 2002, no creditable
service shall be granted to their employees for prior service.
   Effective immediately.
          PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission)
Employees of employers that join IMRF receive credit (without
making contributions) for up to 5 years or 20% of prior service
with the employer, whichever is less, without making a contri-
bution. HB 2198 would decrease the cost for consolidated health
departments that become participating instrumentalities in
January 2002. HB 2198 would not affect the accrued liability or
annual cost of any current IMRF employer.
