1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE RESOLUTION 259
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Resolution 259 by
3 replacing lines 2 through 27 with the following:
4 "WHEREAS, Middle-income working families in this country
5 provide the majority of federal income tax revenue; and
6 WHEREAS, Much of this revenue funds vital federal
7 programs such as Medicare, Social Security, education, and
8 health care; and
9 WHEREAS, A significant cut in marginal tax rates across
10 all tax brackets will severely diminish these vital programs;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, A retroactive cut in tax rates targeted
13 primarily towards the bottom sixty percent of income earners
14 will provide immediate tax relief, stimulate growth in the
15 economy, and still ensure adequate funding for these vital
16 programs; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 we urge our elected representatives in the United States
20 Congress to support and work to pass a fiscally responsible
21 tax relief plan that would cut income tax rates for low and

1 middle-income working families and provide adequate funding
2 for these vital federal programs; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to each member of the Illinois Congressional
5 delegation.".
