Senate Sponsors: MUNOZ. Short description: MED PRACT-EXCLUSIVE CONTRACTS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Hospital Licensing Act and the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Prohibits a person from participating in offering or making an exclusive contract for hospital services of a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches. Provides that the prohibition only applies to relationships entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2000. Provides that violation of the prohibition is a petty offense punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 for the first violation and a business offense punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 for a second or subsequent violation. Provides a right to recovery to any person aggrieved by a violation of the prohibition. Effective immediately.
