Amend Senate Bill 730 by replacing 3 the title with the following: 4 "AN ACT in relation to minors."; and 5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 6 following: 7 "Section 5. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by 8 adding Section 5-160 as follows: 9 (705 ILCS 405/5-160 new) 10 Sec. 5-160. Representation of minor. In any proceeding 11 for an act that if committed by an adult would be a violation 12 of Section 9-1, 9-1.2, 9-2, 9-2.1, 9-3, 9-3.2, 9-3.3, 12-13, 13 12-14, 12-14.1, 12-15, or 12-16 of the Criminal Code of 1961, 14 a minor under 17 years of age suspected of committing such an 15 act must be represented by counsel during the entire 16 custodial interrogation of the minor. 17 Section 10. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is 18 amended by adding Section 103-2.5 as follows: 19 (725 ILCS 5/103-2.5 new) -2- LRB9100364STgcam01 1 Sec. 103-2.5. Representation of minor. During a 2 custodial interrogation of a person who was under 17 years of 3 age at the time of the offense and who is suspected of a 4 violation of Section 9-1, 9-1.2, 9-2, 9-2.1, 9-3, 9-3.2, 5 9-3.3, 12-13, 12-14, 12-14.1, 12-15, or 12-16 of the Criminal 6 Code of 1961, the person under 17 years of age must be 7 represented by counsel during the entire custodial 8 interrogation of the person for that offense.".
