Amend Senate Bill 272, AS AMENDED, 3 in Section 5 of the bill by inserting immediately below the 4 last of line of Sec. 2JJ the following: 5 "(a) Sales of telecommunications calling time by means 6 of a prepaid calling card may not include, as a condition of 7 the sale or contract for sale, that the consumer must use the 8 prepaid calling time within a specified time period unless 9 the usage period is calculated from the date of first use or 10 unless the specific expiration date is disclosed on the face 11 of the card. This Section does not apply to calling time sold 12 for use by means of cellular telephones or to prepaid calling 13 cards provided on a promotional basis to consumers without 14 charge. 15 (b) As used in this Section, "prepaid calling card" 16 means an instrument or device issued for the use of the 17 cardholder in obtaining telecommunications calling time. 18 (c) A person who violates the provisions of this Section 19 commits an unlawful practice within the meaning of this Act. 20 A person who violates the provisions of this Section commits 21 a business offense may be fined not less than $501 nor more 22 than $5,000 for each offense.".
