91_SB0272ham001 LRB9102585JScsam03 1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 272 2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 272 on page 1 by 3 replacing lines 8 through 27 with the following: 4 "Sec. 2JJ. Sales of telecommunications services by means 5 of prepaid calling cards. 6 (a) No prepaid calling card may be sold at retail unless 7 such card states the date of expiration of the prepaid 8 telecommunication services or states an expiration policy. 9 The expiration date or expiration policy must be clearly and 10 distinctly displayed in type no smaller than the largest type 11 used on the card and in a reverse color contrast to the color 12 used for the type on the card. 13 (b) "Prepaid calling card" means any object containing 14 an access number and authorization code that enables a 15 consumer to use prepaid calling card services. "Prepaid 16 calling card" does not include any object of that type (i) 17 used for promotional purposes or (ii) used to acquire 18 services or products other than prepaid services. This 19 Section does not apply to prepaid calling cards sold for use 20 exclusively by means of cellular telephones or to cards 21 provided on a promotional basis without charge to consumers. 22 (c) "Prepaid calling card services" is defined as the 23 prepaid purchase of telecommunications services that enable 24 the origination of calls through an access number and -2- LRB9102585JScsam03 1 authorization code whether manually or electronically dialed. 2 "Prepaid calling card services" does not include services for 3 which a prepayment is made for credit reasons.".
