Amend Senate Bill 79, AS AMENDED, in 3 Section 5, in the sentence beginning with the words ""Day 4 labor" means", by deleting "temporary" both of the times it 5 appears; and 6 by replacing all of Section 10 with the following: 7 "Section 10. Statement. 8 (a) Whenever a day labor service agency agrees to send 9 one or more persons to work as day laborers, the day labor 10 service agency shall, upon request by a day laborer, provide 11 to the day laborer a statement containing the following 12 items: "Name and nature of the work to be performed", "wages 13 offered", "destination of the person employed", "terms of 14 transportation", and whether a meal and equipment is 15 provided, either by the day labor service or the third party 16 employer, and the cost of the meal and equipment, if any. 17 (b) No day labor service agency may send any day laborer 18 to any place where a strike, a lockout, or other labor 19 trouble exists without first notifying the day laborer of the 20 conditions. 21 (c) The Department shall recommend to day labor service 22 agencies that those agencies employ personnel who can -2- LRB9101764WHdvam02 1 effectively communicate information required in subsections 2 (a) and (b) to day laborers in Spanish, Polish, or any other 3 language that is generally used in the locale of the day 4 labor agency."; and 5 in the 2 sentences that follow the Section heading of Section 6 35, by deleting "temporary" both of the times it appears.
