91_HB3312eng HB3312 Engrossed LRB9111457DHmb 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding 2 Section 3-645. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 10. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 6 adding Section 3-645 as follows: 7 (625 ILCS 5/3-645 new) 8 Sec. 3-645. Vietnam Veteran License Plates. 9 (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the 10 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and 11 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of 12 State, may issue Vietnam Veteran license plates to residents 13 of Illinois who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by 14 the Secretary of State. The special Vietnam Veteran plate 15 issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger 16 vehicles of the first division and motor vehicles of the 17 second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates 18 issued under this Section shall expire according to the 19 staggered multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 20 of this Code. 21 (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be 22 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The 23 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to 24 be issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with 25 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to 26 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) 27 of Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe 28 the eligibility requirements and, in his or her discretion, 29 shall approve and prescribe stickers or decals as provided 30 under Section 3-412. 31 (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original HB3312 Engrossed -2- LRB9111457DHmb 1 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. 2 This additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of 3 State Special License Plate Fund. For each registration 4 renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition to the appropriate 5 registration fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited 6 into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.
