Amend House Bill 2962 by replacing 3 the title with the following: 4 "AN ACT concerning health."; and 5 by inserting immediately below the enacting clause the 6 following: 7 "Section 3. The School Code is amended by adding 8 Sections 2-3.131, 10-23.13, and 34-18.21 as follows: 9 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.131 new) 10 Sec. 2-3.131. Medicaid matching funds claim. The State 11 Board of Education and the Department of Public Aid may enter 12 into an intergovernmental agreement whereby school districts 13 or their agents may claim Medicaid matching funds for 14 Medicaid-eligible children, as authorized by Section 1903 of 15 the Social Security Act. 16 (105 ILCS 5/10-23.13 new) 17 Sec. 10-23.13. Medicaid-eligible children; health care 18 resources. To access federally funded health care resources 19 if the school district provides early periodic screening and 20 diagnostic testing services, including screening and -2- LRB9109402NTksam02 1 diagnostic services, health care and treatment, preventive 2 health care, or any other measure, to correct or improve 3 health impairments of Medicaid-eligible children. 4 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.21 new) 5 Sec. 34-18.21. Medicaid-eligible children; health care 6 resources. If the school district provides early periodic 7 screening and diagnostic testing services, including 8 screening and diagnostic services, health care and treatment, 9 preventive health care, or any other measure, to correct or 10 improve health impairments of Medicaid-eligible children, the 11 school district may access federally funded health care 12 resources."; and 13 by inserting at the end of the bill the following: 14 "Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 15 becoming law, except that the provisions changing Section 3 16 of the Critical Health Problems and Comprehensive Health 17 Education Act take effect on January 1, 2001.".
