1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act by
2 changing Section 2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Enterprise Zone Act is amended
6 by changing Section 2 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 655/2) (from Ch. 67 1/2, par. 602)
8 Sec. 2. Legislative finding and declaration. The
9 General Assembly finds and declares that the health, safety
10 and welfare of the people of this State are dependent upon a
11 healthy economy and vibrant communities; that the continual
12 encouragement, development, growth and expansion of the
13 private sector within the State requires a cooperative and
14 continuous partnership between government and the private
15 sector; and that there are certain depressed areas in this
16 State that need the particular attention of government,
17 business, labor and the citizens of Illinois to help attract
18 private sector investment into these areas and directly aid
19 the local community and its residents. Therefore, it is
20 declared to be the purpose of this Act to explore ways and
21 means of stimulating business and industrial growth and
22 retention in depressed areas and stimulating neighborhood
23 revitalization of depressed areas of the State by means of
24 relaxed government controls and tax incentives in those
25 areas.
