1 AN ACT to amend the Mental Health and Developmental
2 Disabilities Code by adding Section 2-110.5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
6 Disabilities Code is amended by adding Section 2-110.5 as
7 follows:
8 (405 ILCS 5/2-110.5 new)
9 Sec. 2-110.5. Electro-convulsive therapy for minors. If
10 a recipient is a minor, that recipient's parent or guardian
11 is authorized, only with the approval of the court under the
12 procedures set out in Section 2-107.1, to provide informed
13 consent for participation of the minor in electro-convulsive
14 therapy if the parent or guardian deems it to be in the best
15 interest of the minor.
