 1        AN ACT to amend the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing
 2    Act by changing Section 10-35.

 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section 5.  The Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act
 6    is amended by changing Section 10-35 as follows:

 7        (225 ILCS 65/10-35)
 8        Sec.  10-35.  Concurrent  theory  and  clinical  practice
 9    education requirements.  Except for those applicants who have
10    received  advanced  graduate  degrees  in  nursing  from   an
11    approved   program   with   concurrent  theory  and  clinical
12    practice,  The  educational  requirements  of  Section  10-30
13    relating  to  registered  professional  nursing  and licensed
14    practical nursing shall not be deemed to have been  satisfied
15    by the completion of any correspondence course or any program
16    of  nursing  that  does not require coordinated or concurrent
17    theory and clinical practice.     The  Department  may,  upon
18    recommendation  of  the  Board,  grant an Illinois license to
19    those applicants who have received advanced graduate  degrees
20    in  nursing  from  an approved program with concurrent theory
21    and  clinical  practice  or  to  those  applicants  who   are
22    currently  licensed  in  another state and have been actively
23    practicing clinical nursing for a minimum of 2 years.
