The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 6 changing Section 32-5 as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 5/32-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 32-5) 8 Sec. 32-5. False personation of attorney, judicial, or 9 governmental officials. 10 (a) A person who falsely represents himself or herself 11 to be an attorney authorized to practice law for purposes of 12 compensation or consideration commits a Class 4 felony. This 13 subsection (a) does not apply to a person who unintentionally 14 fails to pay attorney registration fees established by 15 Supreme Court Rule. 16 (b) A person who falsely represents himself or herself 17 to bean attorney authorized to practice law ora public 18 officer or a public employee commits a Class B misdemeanor. 19 (Source: P.A. 77-2638.)
