AN ACT concerning State government.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Department of Professional Regulation Law |
of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by |
changing Section 2105-40 as follows:
|

Sec. 2105-40. Issuance of certificates and licenses. All
|
certificates, licenses, and authorities shall be issued by the
|
Department
in the name of the Department,
with the seal of the |
Department attached. Beginning July 1, 2024, the Department |
shall supplement all paper-based certificates and licenses |
with a digitally verified electronic credential. The |
Department may use a third-party electronic credential system. |
Such electronic credential system shall include a verification |
system that is operated by the electronic credential agency or |
its agent on its behalf for the purpose of verifying the |
authenticity and validity of electronic credentials. As used |
in this Section, "electronic credential" means an electronic |
method based on an auditable digital platform by which a |
person may display or transmit to another person information |
that instantly verifies information about a person, such as |
the person's licensure, program completion, and verified |
