Short description: CALCIUM PURCHASE PREFERENCE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Calcium Purchase Preference Act and amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Requires that governmental entities purchase calcium-enriched food and beverages when purchasing food and beverages unless the price is higher for the calcium-enriched product. Defines a governmental entity to include all (i) entities of the State government, (ii) units of local government, (iii) school districts, and (iv) other political subdivisions. Exempts purchases for residents and patients of institutions when calcium-enriched food or beverages would interfere with their proper treatment or care. Effective July 1, 2002.
