House Sponsors: FEIGENHOLTZ. Short description: ANIMAL WELFARE-DOG DAY CARE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Defines "dog day care facility". Provides that, beginning January 1, 2003, no person shall operate a dog day care facility without a license issued by the Department of Agriculture. Provides that the owner of a dog must provide a certificate of health and proof of vaccination against distemper, rabies, the parvo virus, and other communicable diseases, parasites, or viruses as specified by rule of the Department. Provides that the owner or operator of the dog day care facility must have knowledge of the animal's disposition, special temperaments, and usual diet. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 225 ILCS 605/2 225 ILCS 605/3 Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Provides that the Department of Agriculture shall, after soliciting recommendations from a voluntary board, adopt rules defining and providing standards for dog day care facilities.
