House Sponsors: JONES,SHIRLEY-JONES,LOU-CURRIE-TURNER,ART. Short description: CT CLERKS-FEES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Clerks of Courts Act. Provides that in counties having a population of 3,000,000 or more inhabitants, the fee for filing a petition to vacate or modify a final order of court or to reconsider a final judgment or order of court, except in certain specified cases, if filed more than 30 days after the entry of the judgment or order is $75. Eliminates the $300 limitation on the clerk accepting a credit or debit card for the cash deposit of bail bond fees. Authorizes the county board to require the circuit clerk to establish and maintain a document evidence storage system and to deposit those moneys into a Document Evidence Storage Fund in the county treasury. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes a redundant provision relating to the $75 fee for filing a petition to vacate or modify a final judgment or order of the court if filed later than 30 days after the entry of the judgment or order. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Provides that a court document evidence fee shall not be charged to any unit of local government or school district unless the court orders another party to pay the fee on its behalf.
