House Sponsors: BEAUBIEN. Short description: WORK COMP-ADVERTISING Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Workers' Compensation Act. Provides that a person convicted of insurance fraud committed against a workers' compensation insurer or self-insurer is ineligible to receive compensation, disability, or medical benefits under the Act if those benefits were received as a result of the violation. Establishes requirements for advertising to solicit persons to file workers' compensation claims or to engage or consult counsel or a medical care provider or clinic to consider a workers' compensation claim. Provides that a person may not solicit another person to file a workers' compensation claim or to engage or consult counsel or a medical care provider or clinic to consider a workers' compensation claim through the use of a true or fictitious name that is deceptive or misleading with regard to the status, character, or proprietary or representative capacity of the entity or person, or to the true purpose of the advertisement. Provides that a violation of the advertising requirements is a Class 4 felony.
