92_SR0573 LRB9218433KFkf 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Ruth Anne 4 Denny of St. Louis, Missouri on November 22, 2002 at 57 years 5 of age; and 6 WHEREAS, Born in East St. Louis, Mrs. Denny was a 7 community leader who served on State and national level 8 committees; she was a school social worker in East St. Louis; 9 she was a life member of Delta Sigma Theta-East St. Louis 10 Alumnae Chapter, a national public service sorority, where 11 she was past local president, served as coordinator for the 12 State of Illinois for four years, and was active on numerous 13 regional and national committees; she was also a member of 14 Jack and Jill of America, a parents' organization dedicated 15 to nurturing children; vice president of the National Council 16 of Negro Women-Ethele Scott Section; and a member of the St. 17 Louis Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion 20 Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis; and 21 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by all who knew 22 and loved her, especially her husband of 29 years, Lowell B. 23 Denny II; her son, Parker Clayborne Denny; her two 24 stepchildren, Lowell B. Denny III and Dominique (Jaron) 25 O'Neal; her twin granddaughters, Kameron and Kennedy O'Neal; 26 her mother, Ophelia Vaughn Clayborne; her three sisters, 27 Betty "Mawiyah" Clayborne, Ph.D., Sylvia Clayborne, and Jo 28 Ann Clayborne; her brother, John S. Clayborne Jr.; and a host 29 of family and friends; therefore, be it 30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 32 Ruth Anne Denny and extend our sincere condolences to her -2- LRB9218433KFkf 1 family and friends; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of Ruth Anne Denny as a expression of 4 our sympathy.
