1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends
4 of Father John O'Connell, who passed away on July 11, 2002;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Father John O'Connell was born on July 30, 1933
7 in Litchfield to Patrick B. and Grace M. Sakach O'Connell; he
8 was ordained on May 23, 1959; and
9 WHEREAS, Father O'Connell served as assistant in various
10 parishes throughout the diocese from 1959 to 1971; he did
11 missionary work in Peru from 1976 until 1979; he also served
12 as pastor and parochial administrator in various parishes;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Father O'Connell was assigned as pastor of St.
15 Augustine, Ashland on July 1, 2002; and
16 WHEREAS, Father O'Connell is survived by his brothers,
17 Richard O'Connell and James O'Connell; his sister, Mary
18 Mizera; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
21 all who knew him, the death of Father John O'Connell of
22 Ashland; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to the family of Father John O'Connell with our
25 sincere condolences.
