92_SR0495 LRB9217662RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Edward Kohlmeyer of Round Lake, who passed away on August 5 9, 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Edward Kohlmeyer was born on July 30, 1934 in 7 Loganville, Wisconsin to Edward and Caroline (Westedt) 8 Kohlmeyer, Sr.; he was united in marriage with Patricia 9 "Patti" Joy Steffen on May 24, 1958; she preceded him in 10 death on October 12, 1999; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Kohlmeyer was a United States Army veteran, 12 serving for four years and attaining the rank of Sergeant; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, Early in his career, Mr. Kohlmeyer was employed 15 as a mechanic for Bowman Dairy and Molidor Chevrolet; in 16 1960, he and his wife, Patti, opened their business, A-Tire 17 County Service, in Round Lake; he proudly rebuilt his 18 business when a devastating fire burned the service station 19 in 1972; along with his son, Michael, Mr. Kohlmeyer was 20 active in the continued operation of his business until his 21 recent illness; and 22 WHEREAS, Among his civic contributions, Mr. Kohlmeyer 23 served as an active member of the Republican Party Committee 24 for Lake County; he currently held the position of 25 Commissioner for the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners 26 for the Round Lake Police Department for several years, was a 27 former commissioner for the Board of Police and Fire 28 Commissioners for the Round Lake Beach Police Department, and 29 served on the Round Lake Beach Zoning Board; and 30 WHEREAS, One of Mr. Kohlmeyer's greatest contributions 31 was his instrumental role in creating the Greater Round Lake -2- LRB9217662RHrh 1 Fire Protection District; during the district's 35 years of 2 operation, Mr. Kohlmeyer first served as secretary of the 3 organization and then took over as President, where he 4 remained for the majority of the district's history; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Kohlmeyer attended Calvary Presbyterian 6 Church in Round Lake, and enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, 7 billiards, snowmobiling and building, and maintaining his 8 prized 1934 Ford; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Kohlmeyer was President of the Harbor 10 Sno-Mates Snowmobile Club, and during his term, was 11 instrumental in raising $60,000 for the American Heart 12 Association and Lions Club; and 13 WHEREAS, The passing of Edward Kohlmeyer will be deeply 14 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his son, 15 Michael (wife, Danette) Kohlmeyer; his cherished grandson, 16 Austin Michael Kohlmeyer; his brother, John (wife, Beverly) 17 Kohlmeyer; his niece and nephews; and many dear loving 18 supportive friends; therefore, be it 19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 21 all who knew him, the death of Edward Kohlmeyer of Round 22 Lake; and be it further 23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 24 presented to the family of Edward Kohlmeyer with our sincere 25 condolences.
