92_SR0487 LRB9217587RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends 4 of Nellie L. Lieteau, who passed away on July 17, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Nellie Lieteau was born in Chicago on December 6 31, 1924 to Newton and Lillian Marlowe Williams; and 7 WHEREAS, Residing in Chicago all of her life, Mrs. 8 Lieteau attended Copernicus School, Lindblom High School, and 9 Wilson Junior College; and 10 WHEREAS, On June 13, 1944, Nellie Willaims married James 11 Wellington Lieteau; the couple became the proud parents of 12 eight children; and 13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lieteau was active in the community and 14 parent/school organizations; for a number of years she was 15 Precinct Captain in the Englewood Community; and 16 WHEREAS, In 1960, Mrs. Lieteau became employed at Time 17 Life, Inc.; an impeccable typist, her work performance was of 18 the highest level; during this time, she also made many 19 motivational speeches for the students in the Chicago Public 20 Schools; she retired in 1983 as a correspondent; and 21 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lieteau served in many capacities in church 22 organizations for St. Raphael Church and St. Margaret of 23 Scotland; she was a lector, worked on various committees, and 24 held many offices at St. Raphael and St. Margaret Churches; 25 in addition, she served as Vice President of the Archdiocesan 26 of Catholic Women, acting as a liaison between church and 27 community; and 28 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lieteau served as a member of the Ladies 29 Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver, where she served as 30 Junior Daughter Counselor and Grand Lady for Court 156 for -2- LRB9217587RHrh 1 numerous years; she also served as Financial Secretary of her 2 Court, as Northern District Deputy, where she was 3 instrumental in forming the innumerable Courts, as President 4 of the Inter Council, and as Supreme Purser on the National 5 Board of the Fourth Degree Ladies of Grace; she was also a 6 member of the Fourth Degree Ladies of Grace-Lady Adele 7 Stadeker Chapter #12; and 8 WHEREAS, Besides Mrs. Lieteau's insurmountable church and 9 community service, she was a loving wife, mother, 10 grandparent, and friend; she was never too busy to lend a 11 hand and rarely turned down a request for assistance; and 12 WHEREAS, The passing of Nellie L. Lieteau will be deeply 13 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her devoted 14 husband, James W.; her children, James N. (wife, Leilo), 15 Alfred W. (wife, Anna), Michael P. (wife, Sharon), Nicole T. 16 Woods (husband, Sanderson), Yvette Flowers (husband, Arthur), 17 Jacques L., and Renee A. Stewart (husband, William); her 15 18 grandchildren; her 3 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Helen 19 Williams and Clara Mitchell (husband, Norman); her nieces; 20 her nephews; and a host of relatives and friends; she was 21 preceded in death by her son, Louis Rene Lieteau, her 22 brothers, Melvin and Lloyd Lamb, and her sister, Lillian 23 Borris; therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 26 all who knew her, the death of Nellie L. Lieteau of Chicago, 27 Illinois; and be it further 28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 29 presented to the family of Nellie L. Lieteau with our sincere 30 condolences.
