92_SR0460 LRB9217147RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincerest condolences to the family and friends 4 of Dr. Michael Edward Sestak, who passed away on June 5, 5 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Dr. Sestak was a 1953 graduate of Western 7 Illinois University with an M.S. Degree and was also a 8 graduate of the University of Illinois where he received his 9 Ed.D. in Educational Administration; and 10 WHEREAS, Dr. Sestak's career roles as an educator 11 included teacher, coach, principal, college professor, 12 assistant superintendent of business affairs, and 13 superintendent; he was employed at Greenfield Junior High 14 School in Greenfield, Oak Park Elementary School, Waldo 15 Junior High School, School Service Center District 131, 16 Aurora, University of Kentucky, Aurora University, and 17 Mooseheart-The Child City, Mooseheart; and 18 WHEREAS, Dr. Sestak was a very active member of various 19 organizations, having been a member of the Greater Aurora 20 Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Aurora Planning 21 Commission, Aurora Water Advisory Board, Aurora Civil Service 22 Commission, and a former member of Annunciation Church in 23 Aurora; he was a member of Holy Cross Church in Batavia, a 24 bank board member and chairman of the Harris Bank Aurora, the 25 Marywood Garden Club, the R.A.M.S. and the development board 26 at Aurora Central Catholic High School; he was also involved 27 with many clubs, including the Knights of Columbus, American 28 Legion Post #84, the Loyal Order of Moose #400, the Lucky 29 Fifty Club, and the Serra Club of Aurora, where he was 30 President from 1995 to 1996; and 31 WHEREAS, Dr. Sestak has had many accomplishments 32 throughout his life, including being awarded the Citizen of -2- LRB9217147RHrh 1 the Year Award in 1977 presented by the Aurora Lions Club; he 2 was also a published author of a book titled "A Priest for 3 all Reasons" a book written about his late brother who was a 4 priest; and 5 WHEREAS, When Dr. Sestak was not busy serving his 6 community, he was an active outdoorsman, enjoyed gardening 7 and loved to spend time with his grandchildren; and 8 WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Sestak is survived by his wife, Mary 9 Ann; his five children, Michelle Marie (husband, Alan) Lage, 10 Dr. David Anthony (wife, Kimberly) Sestak, Dr. Teresa Louise 11 (husband, Dr. Mark) Bettag, Paul Jerome (wife, Lisa) Sestak, 12 and Michael Joseph (wife, Stephanie) Sestak; his 14 13 grandchildren; and his sister, Helen (husband, Albert) Nardi; 14 therefore, be it 15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 17 all who knew him, the death of Dr. Michael Edward Sestak of 18 Batavia, Illinois; and be it further 19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 20 presented to the family of Dr. Michael Edward Sestak with our 21 sincere condolences.
