1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of
4 John Stankoven, who passed away on March 30, 2002; and
5 WHEREAS, John Stankoven was born on August 28, 1913 in
6 Benld, Illinois, to Andy and Sophia Stankoven; he married
7 Jenny Obertino in 1936 in Carlinville; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Stankoven retired from Little Dog Coal Co.
9 in Gillespie as a second shift supervisor and from Granite
10 City Steel Co. as a laborer; and
11 WHEREAS, The passing of John Stankoven will be deeply
12 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
13 Jenny; his son, Jack (wife, Kathryn) Stankoven; his two
14 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his brother,
15 Steve "Mick" Stankoven; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18 all who knew him, the death of John Stankoven of Gillespie,
19 Illinois; and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of John Stankoven with our sincere
22 condolences.
