92_SR0327 LRB9216015DJgc 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The federal government provides payments to a 3 state for medical services provided by the state under a 4 Medicaid plan approved by the federal government; and 5 WHEREAS, The federal payments to a state are based on the 6 Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) for that state, 7 which is computed from a formula that takes into account the 8 average per capita income for the state relative to the 9 national average; and 10 WHEREAS, The FMAP for Illinois is 50%, which means that 11 for every $1 in qualifying medical assistance expenditures 12 made by Illinois, Illinois is able to claim and receive $0.50 13 from the federal government; and 14 WHEREAS, The FMAP for Illinois does not adequately 15 reflect the population of Medicaid recipients in Illinois; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, The Illinois Congressional delegation is 18 attempting to secure an increase in the FMAP for Illinois; 19 therefore, be it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we support the 22 efforts of the Illinois Congressional delegation in 23 attempting to secure an increase in the FMAP for Illinois to 24 more adequately reflect the population of Medicaid recipients 25 in Illinois; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be sent 27 to each member of the Illinois Congressional delegation.
