92_SR0312 LRB9215917RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Ervie M. "Andy" Anderson of Aurora, who passed on January 5 25, 2002; and 6 WHEREAS, Ervie M. Anderson was born on February 13, 1917 7 in Millbrook, Illinois, the son of the late Edward and Martha 8 (Hoya) Anderson; he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 9 years, Betty Lou Anderson; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was raised as a young boy in 11 Sandwich before moving to Aurora; he graduated from East 12 Aurora High School in 1936, where he enjoyed playing football 13 for the school, and would work during these years as an usher 14 for the Tivoli and Paramount Theatres; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson served his country during World War 16 II with the 519th Port BN, U.S. Army, landing on Utah beach 17 the evening of D-Day; and 18 WHEREAS, In 1950, Mr. Anderson and his wife founded 19 Curbside L.T.D. better known as "The Eskimo Man" Ice Cream 20 Trucks; he also purchased his much-loved farm in Plainfield 21 in the early 1950s and raised tomatoes and sweet corn and 22 sold them at various stands in Aurora throughout the 1950s 23 and 1960s; the farm today is better known for its Christmas 24 Trees, where Mr. Anderson was seen this past season; and 25 WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson served his community as the past 26 President of the Lincoln School P.T.A. and the Chairman of 27 the Aurora Salvation Army Advisory Board; he was a past 28 member of the Fox Valley Girl Scout Board and he served as a 29 Republican Precinct Committeeman; he was a member of Wesley 30 United Methodist Church, a charter member and past president 31 of the Polar Star Lodge #472 Sons of Norway, and a past -2- LRB9215917RHrh 1 Patron of Rising Sun Chapter #51 OES; and 2 WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was a Mason for 50 years with 3 Aurora Lodge # 254, York Rite, AF & AM Aurora Commandary #22, 4 and also a member of Medinah Shrine, the Aurora Area Shrine 5 Club, American Legion Post # 84 of Aurora, V.F.W. Aurora, and 6 the Aurora Moose Lodge #400; and 7 WHEREAS, Ervie Anderson is survived by his son Jeffrey 8 (Gail) Anderson, his daughter Karen Anderson, his 9 granddaughter Amanda Anderson, his step-daughter Stacey 10 Langus, his sister Lila Larsen, and many other loving 11 relatives and friends including his caretaker Genia 12 Kwieciski; therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 15 all who knew him, the death of Ervie M. Anderson of Aurora, 16 Illinois; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 18 presented to the family of Ervie M. Anderson with our 19 sincere condolences.
