92_SR0268 LRB9211140RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of 4 Donald M. Foreman, who passed away on November 19, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Donald M. Foreman was born on August 24, 1922 in 6 Casey, Illinois to Max and Myrtle Foreman; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Foreman served in the Civilian Conservation 8 Corps prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps; 9 as a Veteran of World War II, he served with the 1st Marine 10 Division in the South Pacific, was wounded during combat at 11 Guadalcanal and awarded the Purple Heart; while recovering at 12 Hines Veterans Hospital in Chicago, he met Patricia Morrison, 13 whom he married on October 25, 1947 in Chicago; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Foreman's love for big band music led him 15 into a public relations position with Decca Records and later 16 with Capitol Records; he went on to host his own radio show 17 with WTAQ in LaGrange, where he met and worked with such 18 notable celebrities as Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, 19 Jr. and Nat King Cole; in addition, he enjoyed a long 20 friendship with bandleader Stan Kenton, traveling with his 21 orchestra as public relations manager; and 22 WHEREAS, After moving his family to Wildwood in 1957, Mr. 23 Foreman was employed with Downey VA Hospital and the Illinois 24 Tollway Commission; he also worked as a deputy for the Lake 25 County Sheriff's Department and later served as Chief Deputy 26 under Coroner Oscar Lind; he retired from the State of 27 Illinois as an agent with the Liquor Control Commission; and 28 WHEREAS, Mr. Foreman was a member of Wildwood Youth 29 Unlimited and the Lake County Federation of Police; in 30 addition, he served as a Warren Township Republican Precinct 31 Committeeman and also as a Township Trustee for 18 years; and -2- LRB9211140RHrh 1 WHEREAS, The passing of Donald M. Foreman will be deeply 2 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 3 Patricia; his sons, Fred (Stephanie) Foreman and Jeff (Dawn) 4 Foreman; his daughter, Cathy (Bill) Melville; and his 5 grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Melanie, BJ, Rebecca, 6 and Jonathon; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 9 all who knew him, the death of Donald M. Foreman of Wildwood, 10 Illinois; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Donald M. Foreman with our sincere 13 condolences.
