92_SR0252 LRB9210212RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Donald E. Lakin, who passed away on September 9, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Donald E. Lakin was born on November 27, 1919 in 6 White Hall, Illinois to George Allen and Marie DeShasier 7 Lakin; he married Betty Ross in 1945 in White Hall; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Lakin owned and operated Murrayville Locker 9 Service from 1947 through 1990; in addition, he operated 10 locker plants in White Hall, Roodhouse, Winchester, Chapin, 11 and Jacksonville; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Lakin served in the United States Army as a 13 second lieutenant during World War II and was in medical 14 supplies in the European Theatre; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Lakin was a member of many civic 16 organizations, including a charter member and chairman of the 17 Murrayville-Woodson Water Commission for 30 years, a past 18 master of the Murrayville Masonic Lodge, AF&AM, a member of 19 the Springfield Consistory and the Ansar Shrine, and past 20 commander of the Murrayville Legion Post 311; and 21 WHEREAS, The passing of Donald E. Lakin will be deeply 22 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 23 Betty, his sons, Eric (wife, Christina) Lakin and Steve 24 (wife, Mary Jo) Lakin; his four grandchildren; his 25 great-grandchild; and his sister, Abbie (husband, Don) 26 Templin-Smith; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 29 all who knew him, the death of Donald E. Lakin of 30 Murrayville, Illinois; and be it further -2- LRB9210212RHrh 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Donald E. Lakin with our sincere 3 condolences.
