92_SR0248 LRB9210733RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of William B. Hamilton, who passed away on July 2, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, William B. Hamilton was born on October 4, 1929 6 in Oak Park, Illinois to Gurdon and Helen Hamilton; he was 7 united in marriage to Ellen Wallace on December 26, 1950 in 8 Oak Park; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Hamilton devoted his life to making a 10 positive impact in helping others; he was an active Batavia 11 community leader, serving as a former Batavia City alderman; 12 he was a founding member of the Braeburn Marsh Defenders; in 13 addition, he was a gifted vocalist and member of the West 14 Town Barbershop Chorus and member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. 15 barbershop organization; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Congregational 17 Church in Batavia, where he sang in the church choir for 37 18 years; throughout his church membership at Batavia 19 Congregational Church, he had the distinction of having 20 served on all the church boards and committees, and was a 21 two-time church moderator; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Twin Lakes 23 Sailing Club, where he served as commodore; he was known for 24 his fierce competitive boatmanship; he was instrumental in 25 the preservation of his family home, Glen Carrie, located in 26 Wisconsin, for his present family and future family 27 generations; in addition, he was a noted amateur photographer 28 and was blessed with many talents and interests; and 29 WHEREAS, The passing of William B. Hamilton will be 30 deeply felt by all who new and loved him, especially his 31 wife, Ellen W. Hamilton; his daughter, Heather Hamilton; his -2- LRB9210733RHrh 1 son, Donald (wife, Christa) Hamilton; his grandchildren, 2 Madison and Dante Hamilton-Dryden, Carsten, Andreas and 3 Maxwell Hamilton; his brothers, Howard Hamilton and Robert 4 (wife, Carol) Hamilton; his sister, Christabel Fredrick; his 5 brother-in-law, Heinz Heinemann; and his many nieces, nephews 6 and extended family members; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 9 all who knew him, the death of William B. Hamilton of 10 Batavia, Illinois; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of William B. Hamilton with our 13 sincere condolences.
