 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Amy Henderson Dillon Hunter, who passed away on October 9,
 5    2001; and

 6        WHEREAS, Amy Henderson was born on September 8,  1914  in
 7    Vidalia,  Louisiana  to  the  late  Rebecca  Brown and George
 8    Henderson and was reared by her paternal grandparents, Dudley
 9    and Virginia Henderson; and

10        WHEREAS,  Amy  Henderson  Dillon  Hunter  was  united  in
11    marriage to the late Arthur Dillon on December 24,  1931;  to
12    this  union  twelve  children  were  born;  Mrs. Hunter later
13    married Elmer Hunter on December 21, 1969; and

14        WHEREAS, Mrs. Hunter  served  as  a  faithful  member  of
15    various  churches in the Chicago area, including New Galilee,
16    Philadelphia M.B.C., St.  Michael  M.B.C.  and  Faith  United
17    M.B.C.;  she  was  an  avid  Sunday  School  participant  and
18    superintendent,  former  missionary  society  vice-president,
19    church clerk, Dr. Watts Choir president, member of the prayer
20    ministry,  and  ministers'  wives  director  of  New  Galilee
21    District  Association;  she served faithfully as "first lady"
22    of Friendship M.B.C. when her late husband Rev. Elmer  Hunter
23    became  pastor  and  was proud to be the eldest member of St.
24    Luke's First's worship center; and

25        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Hunter  will  be  remembered  as  a  very
26    industrious woman  who  did  many  things  well;  she  was  a
27    seamstress,  milliner,  a gifted singer, especially Dr. Watts
28    songs, and proprietor of a dry  cleaners;  in  addition,  she
29    enjoyed  arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, and quilting;
30    and

31        WHEREAS, The passing of Amy Henderson Dillon Hunter  will

 1    be  deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her
 2    daughters, Mary (husband,  Robert)  Monroe,  Marie  (husband,
 3    Chester)  Brown,  Ollie  (husband,  Huey) Washington, Dorothy
 4    (husband, Vernon) Terry, Jean  (husband,  Les)  Colbert,  and
 5    Diane  Fountain; her sons, Arthur Dillon, Jr., Robert Dillon,
 6    and  Michael   Dillon;   her   30   grandchildren,   her   54
 7    great-grandchildren;  her  5  great-great-grandchildren;  her
 8    sister,  Dora Young; her daughter-in-law, Lillian Dillon; her
 9    cousins, Rosa, Rosie Lee, Pearl, Mary, Jacqueline, and  James
10    Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore,
11    be it

12        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
13    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
14    all  who  knew her, the death of Amy Henderson Dillon Hunter,
15    formerly of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further

16        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
17    presented  to  the family of Amy Henderson Dillon Hunter with
18    our sincere condolences.
