1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Joseph H. Kufa, who passed away on June 21, 2001; and
5 WHEREAS, Joseph H. Kufa was born on October 4, 1918 in
6 Carlinville, Illinois to John and Sofia Sitko Kufa; he
7 married Pauline Schaefer on September 21, 1940 at St. Mary's
8 Catholic Church in Carlinville; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Kufa was a 1936 graduate of Carlinville High
10 School and was a sheet metal worker for Frank Seyfrit for
11 several years; he was a partner in Kufa and Hazel Hardware
12 for several years and started Kufa and Son Heating and Air
13 Conditioning in 1954, retiring in 1985; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Kufa served as an original member of the
15 Carlinville Country Club, where he spent many hours on the
16 initial groundwork; in addition, he was a member of Ss. Mary
17 & Joseph Catholic Church, the Macoupin Club, and the
18 Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412; and he was a member of the
19 Carlinville Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years, serving
20 as fire chief for 20 years; in addition, he was the
21 co-founder of the Carlinville Little League baseball, a 4th
22 degree member of Knights of Columbus, serving as a grand
23 knight, and a master gardener in Carlinville, winning many
24 awards at county and state fairs and giving out produce to
25 family and friends; and
26 WHEREAS, Mr. Kufa also enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf,
27 and spending time with his family; and
28 WHEREAS, The passing of Joseph H. Kufa will be deeply
29 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife,
30 Pauline; his son, Jeff (wife, Linda) Kufa; his daughter, Mary
31 Jo (husband, Jeff) Reichmann; his grandchildren, Kris

1 (husband, David) Snider, Michele (husband, Brian) Horst,
2 Scott (wife, Vanessa) Kufa, Samantha Reichmann, Tyler
3 Reichmann, and Holly Reichmann; his great grandchildren,
4 Alisa Snider, Kailey Snider, Andrew Snider, Ryan Snider,
5 Taylor Horst, Michael Horst, and Jack Kufa; his sister, Ann
6 (husband, Pat) Daly; and his nephew; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 all who knew him, the death of Joseph H. Kufa of Carlinville,
10 Illinois; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Joseph H. Kufa with our sincere
13 condolences.
