92_SR0229 LRB9210695RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Thomas B. Ryder, who passed away on October 15, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Thomas B. Ryder was born on August 13, 1919 near 6 Patterson, Illinois to Joseph W. and Lora Ford Ryder; he 7 married Helen Wilcox in 1974; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Ryder, a lifelong farmer, attended 9 Roodhouse, Glasgow, and Patterson schools; he was an Army 10 veteran of World War II, serving for more than three years in 11 the 343rd Engineer Regiment; he recently received his World 12 War II medals from former U.S. Senator Bob Dole; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Ryder was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church 14 and Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville; he was a member of 15 the Flying Farmers, served as past president of the 16 Southwestern School Board of Piasa, as well as serving on the 17 boards of the Federal Land Bank, the Illini Product Credit 18 Association, the Jersey County Soil Conservation District and 19 as trustee of the Williams-Edwards Cemetery Board; he also 20 showed Tennessee Walking Horses and was a bell ringer for the 21 Salvation Army; and 22 WHEREAS, The passing of Thomas B. Ryder will be deeply 23 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 24 Helen; his son, Illinois State Representative Tom (wife, 25 Peggy) Ryder; his daughter, Janet DeLassus; his 26 grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his brothers, Joe (wife, 27 Roberta) Ryder and Alfred (wife, Mary Ann) Ryder; and his 28 sisters, Mary (husband, George) Lashmett, Catherine "Kate" 29 (husband, Everett) Bowers, and Elizabeth "Sue" (husband, 30 Oliver) Loy; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL -2- LRB9210695RHrh 1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 2 all who knew him, the death of Thomas B. Ryder of Roodhouse, 3 Illinois; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 5 presented to the family of Thomas B. Tyder with our sincere 6 condolences.
