92_SR0190 LRB9209466RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Sidney Boyce, Sr., who passed away on July 15, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Sidney Boyce, Sr. was born on February 22, 1927 6 to Sidney Carter Boyce and Jerry Lee Adams; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Boyce attended Tate High School in Marvell, 8 Arkansas; he was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary 9 Baptist Church in Trenton, Arkansas; and 10 WHEREAS, Sidney Boyce, Sr. married the late Glenis Boyce 11 in 1947; to this union four children were born; his son, 12 Stanley, has been affiliated with the Illinois State Senate 13 for many years as well as a dear friend to Illinois State 14 Senator Emil Jones; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Boyce moved to Chicago in 1953; after 16 finding employment and lodging, he brought his family to 17 Chicago and became a member of the Stone Temple Baptist 18 Church; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Boyce was a hard working man who often 20 balanced several jobs at the same time to make ends meet; he 21 primarily worked with Griffin Wheel Company from 1955 to 22 1984; and 23 WHEREAS, The passing of Sidney Boyce, Sr. will be deeply 24 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his children, 25 Sidney (wife, Tarla Kimberly) Boyce, Jr., Linda Boyce 26 Newsome, Jerome Boyce, and Stanley (wife, Jeanette) Boyce; 27 his sister, Helen McKissic; his nephew, Elmer McKissic; his 28 brothers-in-law, the Reverend Roscoe Moore, Ellis Casey, 29 George Shead, Jr., and Richard Underwood; his grandchildren, 30 Kimberly Newsome (husband, Christopher) Gosell, Nina Waiters, 31 Anthony (wife, Ingrid) Boyce, Tamara (husband, Nelson) Davis, -2- LRB9209466RHrh 1 Kashia (husband, Michael) Russell, Rodrick Boyce, Bionka 2 Boyce, Brianna Boyce, and Cheyenne Boyce; his great 3 grandchildren, Cortne' Williams, Brianna Davis, Michael 4 Perry, Tavaris Perry, Elgin Russell, Jaijah Russell, 5 Christian Edward, Kennedy Glenis Gosell, and Michael Russell; 6 and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends; 7 therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 10 all who knew him, the death of Sidney Boyce, Sr. of Chicago, 11 Illinois; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Sidney Boyce, Sr. with our sincere 14 condolences.
