1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Margaret "Suzie" Metzler, who passed away on May 11, 2001;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Metzler was born in Waukegan, Illinois; she
7 was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School and she
8 attended Northwestern University; she was involved in
9 numerous charity organizations and moved to Gurnee in 1961;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Metzler, a longtime Lake County Republican
12 Federation official, served as executive secretary of the
13 county's GOP organization's fund-raising arm from 1962 to
14 1989, and she was in charge of the group's then headquarters
15 in downtown Waukegan; and
16 WHEREAS, During her 27 year career, Mrs. Metzler received
17 many awards and accolades for her tireless work on behalf of
18 the party and Republican candidates; in addition, she helped
19 organize the Waukegan Township Republican Club and was its
20 first president; and
21 WHEREAS, The passing of Margaret Metzler will be deeply
22 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her sons,
23 William (wife, Kathy) Metzler and Harvey (wife, Tammy)
24 Metzler; her daughter, Holly (husband, David) Eiss; her nine
25 grandchildren; her four great grandchildren; and her many
26 friends within the Republican Party; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 all who knew her, the death of Margaret Metzler of Gurnee,
30 Illinois; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to the family of Margaret Metzler with our sincere
2 condolences.
