92_SR0116 LRB9208775RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Roosevelt "Rose" Wright, who passed away on April 20, 5 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright was born on March 15, 1935, in 7 Durham, North Carolina to the late Theodore R. Wright and 8 Cynthia S. Wright; and 9 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright graduated from Hillside High 10 School in 1953, and he was a graduate of McCoy's Barber 11 School; and 12 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright was a veteran of the United 13 States Air Force serving from 1954 until 1958; and 14 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright worked in construction for a 15 number of years; in addition he worked at Martin Metals, 16 American Motors, Goodyear, and sold insurance for United 17 Insurance; his greatest joy was cutting hair at Dave's Barber 18 Shop in North Chicago where over the years his clients 19 included members of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls; and 20 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright was a dedicated artist; his art 21 work was often seen on the high school football fields in 22 Waukegan, North Chicago, and Libertyville; and 23 WHEREAS, Roosevelt Wright was a Master Mason under the 24 Rufus Mitchell Lodge, a member of the Western Consistory 25 Number 28, where he advanced to 32nd Degree, and was an 26 active member of the BET Express; and he was a member of the 27 First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where he served 28 in the Gospel Chorus, the Voices of Corinthian and First 29 Corinthian's male chorus, and the Corinthian Echos; and 30 WHEREAS, The passing of Roosevelt Wright will be deeply -2- LRB9208775RHrh 1 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, 2 Juanita, his daughter, Shalanda (husband, Gregory) 3 Brookshire; his son, Gregory (wife, Kristi) Wright; his 4 grandchildren, Manesha Young, Gregory Brookshire, Dominique 5 Wright, Keyonna Wright, and Breonna Wright; his mother, 6 Cynthia S. Wright; his siblings, Evangelist Evelyn (husband, 7 Pastor James) Gilchrist, Lawrence (wife, Phyllis) Wright, 8 Charles (wife, Annie) Wright, Otis (wife, Carolyn) Wright, 9 Lois Wright, Ruby Wright, Edna Clay, Dr. Catherine Wright, 10 Marion Wright; his brother-in-law, James (wife, Joyce) Hugle; 11 his sister-in-law, Mary (husband, Patrick) Davis; his 12 godchildren, James Dicker, Danzie Dicker, Jr., Aaron 13 Keener-Smith, T'Dara Brown, Kierra Keys, Kate Swain, and 14 Marie Swain; his nieces; his nephews; his special friends; 15 and his many well-wishers; therefore, be it 16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 18 all who knew him, the death of Roosevelt Wright of North 19 Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 21 presented to the family of Roosevelt Wright with our sincere 22 condolences.
