92_SR0105 LRB9208635KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Gertrude B. "Trudy" Maloof of Peoria, Illinois, who passed 5 away on March 29, 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Gertrude Maloof was born in Pekin, Illinois on 7 April 23, 1923; her parents were Eli and Marie Schreck 8 Burson; on June 28, 1941 she married James A. Maloof in 9 Peoria, Illinois; and 10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Maloof was active with St. Jude's 11 Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee since 12 October of 1957; she worked alongside the late actor Danny 13 Thomas, founder of the hospital to raise millions of dollars 14 for the hospital; in 1972 she helped start the St. Jude 15 Midwest Affiliate at Methodist Medical Center; she was also a 16 founding member of the Ladies of St. Jude; and 17 WHEREAS, Gertrude Maloof was a member of the Catholic 18 Women's League, Catholic Social Services, St. Mark's Catholic 19 School P.T.A., the St. Jude Telethon Committee, the American 20 Syrian Lebanon Society, the Peoria Nine-hole Women's Golf 21 League, and the Mount Hawley Country Club Nine-hole Women's 22 Golf League; and 23 WHEREAS, Gertrude Maloof was a member of St. Vincent de 24 Paul Catholic Church; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of Gertrude "Trudy" Maloof will be 26 deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her 27 husband, James; her sons, J. Michael (wife, Marianne) and 28 Nicholas (wife, Alga); her daughter, Janice Marie; her ten 29 grandchildren; her great-grandson; her sisters, Lillian 30 Tassart and Betty Bradley; her brother, Jerry Burson; and her 31 many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it -2- LRB9208635KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 3 her family and friends, the passing of Gertrude "Trudy" 4 Maloof of Peoria, Illinois; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to the family of Gertrude Maloof.
