92_SR0101 LRB9208623KBkbA 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 commemorate the lives of citizens who have contributed to the 4 great State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, We wish to express our sincere condolences to 6 the family and friends of Mary Antoinette Freeman, who passed 7 away on March 29, 2001; and 8 WHEREAS, Mary Antoinette Freeman was the sister of our 9 esteemed colleague and dear friend Illinois Senate Democratic 10 Leader Emil Jones, Jr.; and 11 WHEREAS, Mary Antoinette Freeman was born on November 20, 12 1933 to the late Emil Jones, Sr., and Marilla Jones; she was 13 baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she later 14 served on the Usher Board; and 15 WHEREAS, Mary Antoinette Freeman grew up in Chicago's 16 East Morgan Park community; she was a student at Shoop 17 Elementary school and Morgan Park High School, where she 18 excelled academically; and 19 WHEREAS, Mary Antoinette Freeman worked as a seamstress 20 and later as a hairstylist; she enjoyed cooking and spending 21 time with her family and her many friends; and 22 WHEREAS, Mary Antoinette Freeman gave of herself to her 23 family, her friends, her church, and her community, and that 24 legacy will continue forward; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of Mary Antoinette Freeman will be 26 deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her 27 children, Cynthia (husband, Mark) Boone, Keith (wife, Ruth) 28 Freeman, Debbie (husband, Wayne) Williams, Diana Myles, 29 Pastor Ricky (wife, Zenodie) Freeman, Cheryl Freeman, 30 Adrienne Woods, Kimberly (husband, Brian) Lawson, and Clyde -2- LRB9208623KBkbA 1 (Kari) Swain; her siblings; Elsa Nelson, Marilla Peppers, 2 Illinois Senate Democratic Leader Emil (wife, Patricia) 3 Jones, Jr., the Reverend Maurice (wife, Martha) Jones, and 4 Theresa Walker; her twenty-one grandchildren; her two 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, 6 and friends; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our 9 deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mary Antoinette 10 Freeman upon her passing, who was much beloved and held dear 11 to all who knew her; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Mary Antoinette Freeman with our 14 sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies.
