92_SR0006 LRB9202734KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Mrs. Jewel Lewis DeLaney, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeLaney was born in St. Louis, Missouri on 6 August 28, 1943; her parents were Menion and Trudy Lewis; she 7 grew up in East St. Louis, attending Dunbar Elementary 8 School, Hughes-Quinn Junior High School, and East St. Louis 9 Lincoln Senior High School, where she graduated in 1961; she 10 also attended State Community College; and 11 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeLaney and Robert Lee DeLaney were married 12 on August 15, 1964; she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior 13 and was a loyal member of the Bride of Christ Church; and 14 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeLaney worked for the Army Missile Command 15 Center (formerly Army Troop Support Center) in St. Louis, 16 Missouri; she enjoyed bowling and served as volunteer at the 17 Lilly Freeman Elementary School in East St. Louis, Illinois; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jewel DeLaney will be remembered by her 20 friends and family, especially her daughters, Robyn (husband, 21 Darnell) Jenise DeLaney-Morton, and Rae Jenine DeLaney; her 22 son, Dr. Juels Ryan DeLaney; her grandson, Yamani Jelaan 23 Maree Shareef; her brothers, Lester Lewis, Sr., and James 24 (wife, Adeline) Lewis, Sr.; her sisters, Annie L. McCraney, 25 Lillie B. (husband, Carl) Prude, and Marcella Phillips; her 26 sisters-in-law, Dortha R. Lewis, Eloise Lewis, Cora (husband, 27 F.M.) Gates, Willie DeLaney, and Ann DeLaney; her 28 brothers-in-law, Sam (wife, Sarah) DeLaney, Alex (wife, 29 Ozelma) DeLaney, and Freddie (wife, Lady) DeLaney; her aunt, 30 Laura T. Crowell; her extended family, the Rush and Lawson 31 families; her nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; 32 therefore, be it -2- LRB9202734KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 3 all who knew her, the death of Mrs. Jewel DeLaney; and be it 4 further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to the family of Mrs. Jewel DeLaney.
