1 AN ACT in relation to insurance.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Health Insurance Portability and
5 Accountability Act is amended by changing Section 15 as
6 follows:
7 (215 ILCS 97/15)
8 Sec. 15. Applicability and scope. This Act applies to
9 all health insurance policies and all health service
10 contracts issued, renewed, or delivered for issuance or
11 renewal in this State by a health insurance issuer after July
12 1, 1997 the effective date of this Act. Unless otherwise
13 specifically provided by this Act, the standards and
14 requirements imposed by this Act shall supersede and replace
15 any and all conflicting, inconsistent or less restrictive
16 standards or requirements contained in the Illinois Insurance
17 Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited
18 Health Service Organization Act, and the Voluntary Health
19 Services Plans Act.
