1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 changing Section 1-159.1 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/1-159.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-159.1)
7 Sec. 1-159.1. Person with disabilities. A natural person
8 who, as determined by a licensed physician: (1) cannot walk
9 without the use of, or assistance from, a brace, cane,
10 crutch, another person, prosthetic device, wheelchair, or
11 other assistive device; (2) is restricted by lung disease to
12 such an extent that his or her forced (respiratory)
13 expiratory volume for one second, when measured by
14 spirometry, is less than one liter, or the arterial oxygen
15 tension is less than 60 mm/hg on room air at rest; (3) uses
16 portable oxygen; (4) has a cardiac condition to the extent
17 that the person's functional limitations are classified in
18 severity as Class III or Class IV, according to standards set
19 by the American Heart Association; (5) is severely limited in
20 the person's ability to walk due to an arthritic,
21 neurological, or orthopedic condition; or (6) cannot walk 200
22 feet without stopping to rest because of one of the above 5
23 conditions; or (7) suffers from peripheral vascular disease.
