1 AN ACT regarding child care.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Child Care Act of 1969 is amended by
5 adding Section 4.5 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 10/4.5 new)
7 Sec. 4.5. Children with disabilities; training.
8 (a) An operator of a licensed child care facility must
9 successfully complete a basic training course in providing
10 care to children with disabilities. Evidence satisfactory to
11 the Department demonstrating successful completion of a basic
12 training course in providing care to children with
13 disabilities must be presented to the Department before
14 applying for a license or renewal of a license in 2002 and
15 thereafter. Once an operator has presented satisfactory
16 evidence of completion of the basic training course to the
17 Department, the operator shall not again be required to
18 provide that evidence.
19 (b) The Department shall promulgate rules establishing
20 the requirements for basic training in providing care to
21 children with disabilities. Upon request by operators or
22 parents, the Department shall provide technical assistance
23 regarding the care of children with disabilities.
