1 AN ACT in relation to mental health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Community Mental Health Act is amended by
5 adding Section 8.2 as follows:
6 (405 ILCS 20/8.2 new)
7 Sec. 8.2. Olmstead mentally ill initiatives. From funds
8 appropriated by the General Assembly to the Department of
9 Human Services for that purpose, the Secretary of Human
10 Services shall establish Olmstead mentally ill initiatives to
11 prevent and correct inappropriate institutionalization to
12 ensure that individuals in need of mental health services are
13 served in the most integrated setting. These initiatives
14 shall be implemented to provide mental health services to
15 1,000 individuals with mental illness (MI) or mental illness
16 and substance abuse (MISA). The Olmstead mentally ill
17 initiative services shall include but not be limited to:
18 crisis services; outpatient services; rehabilitation and
19 support services, including assertive community treatment,
20 case management, supportive and supervised residential, day
21 treatment, and psychosocial rehabilitation; community
22 integrated living arrangements; and emergency psychiatric
23 services.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
