92_SB0705 LRB9207712ACcdA 1 AN ACT concerning boxing and wrestling. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Regulatory Sunset Act is amended by 5 changing Section 4.12 and adding Section 4.22 as follows: 6 (5 ILCS 80/4.12) (from Ch. 127, par. 1904.12) 7 Sec. 4.12. The following Acts are repealed December 31, 8 2001: 9The Professional Boxing and Wrestling Act.10 The Interior Design Profession Title Act. 11 The Detection of Deception Examiners Act. 12 The Water Well and Pump Installation Contractor's License 13 Act. 14 (Source: P.A. 86-1404; 86-1475; 87-703.) 15 (5 ILCS 80/4.22 new) 16 Sec. 4.22. Act repealed on January 1, 2012. The 17 following Act is repealed on January 1, 2012: 18 The Professional Boxing and Wrestling Act. 19 Section 10. The Professional Boxing and Wrestling Act is 20 amended by changing Sections 2 and 15 as follows: 21 (225 ILCS 105/2) (from Ch. 111, par. 5002) 22 Sec. 2. State Boxing and Wrestling Board. There is 23 created the State Boxing and Wrestling Board consisting of 6 24 persons who shall be appointed by and shall serve in an 25 advisory capacity to the Director. One shall be a physician 26 licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches. 27 Beginning with the next appointment after the effective date 28 of this amendatory Act of 92nd General Assembly, at least one -2- LRB9207712ACcdA 1 member shall be a retired professional boxer who has boxed in 2 this State. The Director shall appoint each member to serve 3 for a term of 3 years and until his or her successor is 4 appointed and qualified. One member of the board shall be 5 designated as the Chairperson and one member shall be 6 designated as the Vice-chairperson. No member shall be 7 appointed to the Board for a term which would cause 8 continuous service to be more than 9 years. Service prior to 9 the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 91st General 10 Assembly shall not be considered in calculating length of 11 service on the Board. Each member of the board shall receive 12 compensation for each day he or she is engaged in transacting 13 the business of the board and, in addition, shall be 14 reimbursed for his or her authorized and approved expenses 15 necessarily incurred in relation to such service in 16 accordance with the travel regulations applicable to the 17 Department at the time the expenses are incurred. 18 A majority of the current members appointed shall 19 constitute a quorum. 20 The members of the Board shall be immune from suit in any 21 action based upon any disciplinary proceedings or other acts 22 performed in good faith as members of the Board. 23 The Director may remove any member of the Board for 24 misconduct, incapacity, or neglect of duty. The Director 25 shall reduce to writing any causes for removal. 26 (Source: P.A. 91-408, eff. 1-1-00.) 27 (225 ILCS 105/15) (from Ch. 111, par. 5015) 28 Sec. 15. Inspectors. The Director may appoint inspectors 29 to assist the Department staff in the administration of the 30 Act. Inspectors appointed by the Director must include 31 persons who are retired professional boxers who have boxed in 32 this State.SuchInspectors shall receive compensation for 33 each day they are engaged in the transacting of business of -3- LRB9207712ACcdA 1 the Department. Each inspector shall carry a card issued by 2 the Department to authorize him to act in such capacity. The 3 inspector or inspectors shall supervise each event to ensure 4 that the provisions of the Act are strictly enforced. The 5 inspectors shall also be present at the counting of the gross 6 receipts and shall immediately deliver to the Department the 7 official box office statement as required by Section 13. 8 (Source: P.A. 91-408, eff. 1-1-00.) 9 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 10 becoming law.
