92_SB0365 LRB9203560DHmb 1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 5 changing Section 4-102 as follows: 6 (625 ILCS 5/4-102) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 4-102) 7 Sec. 4-102. Offenses relating to motor vehicles and 8 other vehicles - Misdemeanors. 9 (a) It is a violation of this Chapter for: 10 (1) A person, knowingly and without authority to do 11 so, to damage a vehicle or to damage or remove any part 12 of a vehicle; 13 (2) A person, knowingly and without authority to do 14 so, to tamper with a vehicle or go in it, on it, or work 15 or attempt to work any of its parts, or set or attempt to 16 set it in motion; 17 (3) A person knowingly to fail to report a vehicle 18 as unclaimed in accordance with the provisions of Section 19 4-107. 20 (b) Sentence. A person convicted of a violation of this 21 Section isshall beguilty of a Class A misdemeanor. A 22 person convicted of a violation of this Section a second or 23 subsequent time, isshall beguilty of a Class 4 felony. 24 (Source: P.A. 86-1209.) 25 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 26 becoming law.
