 1        AN ACT concerning libraries.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Village  Library  Act  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 2 as follows:

 6        (75 ILCS 40/2) (from Ch. 81, par. 16d)
 7        Sec. 2. The board of trustees  shall  appoint  a  library
 8    commission  of  not  less than 3 or more than 7 three members
 9    who shall hold office for terms of 3 years.  Terms  shall  be
10    established  so  that no more than 3 members' terms expire in
11    any single year at the pleasure of the board. Members of  the
12    commission   shall  receive  no  compensation  but  shall  be
13    reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in  the
14    performance  of their duties. The commission shall advise and
15    make recommendations to the board of trustees  regarding  the
16    operations  of  the  library and shall have such other powers
17    and duties as the board may establish by  ordinance.  conduct
18    said  library  in  accordance with rules adopted by it, shall
19    employ such assistants as may  be  necessary  and  shall  fix
20    their compensation.
