1 AN ACT concerning teachers.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Teacher's Fair Pay Act.
6 Section 5. Study.
7 (a) The State Board of Education shall conduct a study
8 on teacher salaries for all public school teachers in grades
9 one through 12. The study shall include a comparison of
10 teacher salaries among the following areas of the State: (i)
11 Cook County, (ii) the counties of DuPage, Kane, Lake,
12 McHenry, and Will, and (iii) the rest of the State. This
13 study shall compare teacher salaries with reference to
14 cost-of-living expenses in each of these areas in order to
15 determine whether teacher salaries in each area are
16 commensurate with cost-of-living expenses in that area.
17 (b) The State Board of Education shall report the
18 results of this study to the General Assembly on or before
19 December 31, 2001.
20 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
