92_SB0116 LRB9200667NTks 1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section 2 14-1.09.2. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing 6 Section 14-1.09.02 as follows: 7 (105 ILCS 5/14-1.09.2) 8 Sec. 14-1.09.02. School Social Work Services. In the 9 public schools, social work services may be provided by 10 qualified specialists who hold Type 73 School Service 11 Personnel Certificates endorsed for school social work issued 12 by the State Teacher Certification Board. 13 School social work services may include, but are not 14 limited to: 15 (1) Identifying students in need of special 16 education services by conducting a social-developmental 17 study in a case study evaluation; 18 (2) Developing and implementing comprehensive 19 interventions with students, parents, and teachers that 20 will enhance student adjustment to, and performance in, 21 the school setting; 22 (3) Consulting and collaborating with teachers and 23 other school personnel regarding behavior management and 24 intervention plans and inclusion in support of special 25 education students in regular classroom settings; 26 (4) Counseling with students, parents, and teachers 27 in accordance with the rules and regulations governing 28 provision of related services, provided that parent 29 permission must be obtained in writing before a student 30 participates in a group counseling session; 31 (5) Acting as a liaison between the public schools -2- LRB9200667NTks 1 and community resources; 2 (6) Developing and implementing school-based 3 prevention programs including mediation and violence 4 prevention; 5 (7) Providing crisis intervention within the school 6 setting; 7 (8) Supervising school social work interns enrolled 8 in school social work programs that meet the standards 9 established by the State Board of Education;and10 (9) Providing parent education and counseling as 11 appropriate in relation to the child's educational 12 assessment; and.13 (10) Assisting in completing a functional 14 behavioral assessment, as well as assisting in the 15 development of positive behavioral intervention 16 strategies. 17 Nothing in this Section prohibits other certified 18 professionals from providing thoseany of theservices listed 19 in this Section for which they are appropriately trained. 20 (Source: P.A. 90-815, eff. 2-11-99.) 21 Section 99.
